I’m not the biggest fan of talking about me, but you've got to row your own boat sometimes.
But wait, let me explain...
I've been in the game for a while now, 20 years give or take. Why only that long? Well, after finishing my double major in advertising and marketing degree at QUT in Brisbane, I moved to Sydney to where the action was. I started out in media, rising to a senior planner buyer role but the voice urging me to take up pens & pencils and get into the creative side took over. Taking on Award School to get creatively schooled, I got my first job at Publicis Triangle/Mojo - 4 years later, a redundancy so I knew I was in the game then, and landed the dream gig at Leo Burnett working under Jay Benjamin & Andy DiLallo.
By developing & honing the craft of both writing & art directing over my time at Leo’s, I’ve worked across almost every client: Suncorp, APIA Insurance, Red Rooster, Samsung, Bundaberg Rum, McDonalds, Oporto’s, TedX, Johnnie Walker, Gordon’s Gin, Emirates, Energy Australia, Colonial First State, GIO, WWF, Woolworths, Subaru, Canon, Captain Morgan, and Smirnoff - pretty much every industry/service covered - I think? Each project required a great range of thinking, craft and execution across master brand campaigns to bespoke social content generation, and everything in between.
One of Leo Burnett’s most awarded campaigns - Samsung S-Drive, was a clear highlight - a powerful idea, with a real purpose. It’s the job I’m most proud of becasue it was an all-in agency effort. And the awards that followed - just the cherries on-top.
In short, I’m a writer’s art director. Or is that an art director’s writer? Why not both. A creative doer. An idea thinker. A creative maker. A lover of craft, and passionate believer in the power of what advertising can do.
Enough rowing. If you like the look of my work, let’s chat about what else we could create together.
Cheers & hope to meet you soon - it’ll be worth it.
